Hat Trick of Home Runs for Nájera
Wednesday, May 5th, 2021
Lúcio Nájera of the New York Mafia had a lot to celebrate in today's 21-3 win over the South Carolina Bombers. Three times he celebrated by pounding the ball out of Bomber Ballpark.
He kiddingly told reporters after the game, "Hopefully, I can continue to close my eyes and swing as hard as I can. It worked well today."
The powerful New York catcher tagged 3 hits in 5 at-bats, drove in 7 runs and scored 4 times in his three-homer outburst.
Nájera added, "Seriously, I just try to swing early and often to give myself a chance. I let the pitcher supply all the power, I just try to figure out how to get the bat on the ball."
"We talked about changing our strategy for the third one ... and then he hit another homer," the South Carolina manager said. "We just couldn't get him out."
Lúcio Nájera hit a GRAND SLAM off Aaron Harris in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Aaron Harris in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Bob Taylor in the 6th, walked in the 8th and flied out in the 9th.
So far this season Nájera has 7 home runs and a .263 batting average.
