4-Game Suspension for Sreevijayan Thursday, May 16th, 2019 There was a hostile encounter between Lall Sreevijayan and the men in blue in yesterday's Saitama Seibu-Fukuoka SoftBank game. The Lions right fielder was tossed for arguing a called third strike. Actually he did a little more than just complain about the call -- he got in the umpire's face and had to be restrained by his manager. "I don't think I did anything to deserve to be thrown out of the game in the first place, never mind be suspended," Sreevijayan stated. "That's unbelievable. I still don't know why he threw me out of the game. I didn't charge over there until after he gave me the heave-ho." The league office did not agree with his assessment of the confrontation and suspended Sreevijayan for 4 games. In 46 games this season Sreevijayan has batted at a .275 pace with 38 hits and 11 home runs. |
