Koushika Hittin' on All Cylinders
Friday, March 15th, 2019
Tokyo Yakult's Krpana Koushika accomplished what few others have been able to do -- he hit for the cycle. In baseball, a player hits for the cycle when he hits a single, a double, a triple and a home run in the same game, though not necessarily in that order. Collecting the hits in that order is known as a "natural cycle."
For the day he finished 4-5 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored and helped his Swallows knock off the Yomiuri Giants 6-4 at Rebels Ballpark. In the postgame press conference he said, "I didn't even know I had hit for the cycle until after the game."
Krpana Koushika hit an RBI triple in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Anandam Ramanathan in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, singled in the 6th and doubled in the 7th.
This season in 8 games, Koushika has hit at a .241 clip with 7 hits, 1 home run, 5 RBIs and 4 runs scored.
