It's Official -- Hanshin Fires Leclercq as Manager Monday, September 11th, 2017 The fans in Hanshin have gotten their way -- today the Tigers parted company with manager Yves Leclercq. He had been living on borrowed time after a poll of local sports fans found that he was about as popular as the plague. Fans had been increasingly more vocal about their displeasure with how Leclercq was running the club on and off the field. They had even created a "Fire Leclercq Zone" in the right field bleachers, where fans would post signs and dress in t-shirts supporting his exodus as manager. Asked if fan pressure had any effect on the termination, a Tigers official, spoke off the record and said, "Yes, it had a bearing. We are always concerned about our fan base, but this was not the primary reason for the dismissal. In the last few months, things have gone downhill and we just had to do something about it. We decided to get new leadership in the clubhouse." |
