Ryutaro Kouyama Suffers Injury Wednesday, August 27th, 2014 After the end of today's game between Saitama Seibu and Chiba Lotte, Ryutaro Kouyama skipped the clubhouse and headed straight for the doctor's office. After he was removed from the game as a precaution after throwing a pitch, the Lions had their worst fears confirmed when it turned out to be more serious. The reliever will miss at least 9 months with a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament. Thus far this season Kouyama has compiled a 1-1 record, made 44 relief appearances with 1 save, hurling 44.1 innings and striking out 35. He has held the opposition to a .324 batting average with a 5.08 ERA. |
