Elder Boosts Hit Streak to 20 Games

The red-hot hitting Rick Elder is riding high with a 20-consecutive-game hitting streak and is drawing a lot of attention at the ballpark and in the press. The 17-year-old Niagara first baseman continued the streak today at Drummondville College Grounds with 1 hit in 5 at-bats as the Stars got the best of the London Monarchs 11-6.

"It's great," one of his teammates said. "To be able to hit behind him and watch him, it's been fun. It's been fun and exciting to watch. Not only fans in Niagara, but baseball fans everywhere appreciate what is going on right now, and it has everyone on the edge of their seats wondering what he is going to do."
Rick Elder hit a two-run single in the 1st, flied out in the 4th, flied out in the 6th, flied out in the 7th and flied out in the 8th.

This year Elder has socked 38 hits in 93 at-bats for a .409 average with 7 home runs. He is getting on base at a .423 pace and his totals also include 27 RBIs and 18 runs scored.
