Broomhead Strokes 5 Hits Wednesday, April 12th, 2017 What a day for George Broomhead of the London Monarchs! A 5-hit hitting spree! That doesn't happen every day! He ripped Kelowna pitching apart at Hatchets Ballpark and sparked the Monarchs to a 16-9 victory. He wrote his name in the record books, finishing his special day 5 for 6. "I'm usually a first ball hitter," Broomhead told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid that." George Broomhead singled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, grounded out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 7th. A look at his current stats shows Broomhead with a .287 average, 3 home runs, 24 RBIs and 24 runs scored. He has played in 33 games. |
