Eade Goes 5-5
Monday, April 16th, 2018
Twomey Eade was on quite a roll today as he knocked the ball all over Dingoes Ballpark, collecting 5 hits, but wasn't able to win the game. He got his 15 minutes of fame, but the Tulane Green Wave got the 6-5 victory over the TCU Horned Frogs.
"Headlines and highlights are great, but it takes a lot of luster off it because we lost the game," he said after the game.
After his first couple of hits, the eyes of everybody in the ballpark were on him each time Eade stepped into the batter's box. Even a few of the opposing fans were pulling for him, knowing they were watching a little baseball history unfold.
In the clubhouse, crowded by reporters, the TCU second baseman said, "I never realized that hitting a little ball around could cause so much commotion." When asked what the secret of hitting so well is, he smiled and replied, "The key to hitting for a high average is to relax, concentrate, and hit the ball where they ain't." That's exactly what he did today as Eade finished the game with 5 hits in 5 at-bats and a line in the record book.
Twomey Eade singled in the 1st, hit a two-run double in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
So far this year, Eade is batting .315 with no home runs and 20 RBIs.
