Gamecocks Lee Raps 3 Homers
Wednesday, April 12th, 2017
Three home runs in a game doesn't happen often. When it does it is something special to celebrate. And William Lee of South Carolina can celebrate it. He is now a member of the select group of players, who have hit three home runs in a single game. He powered three into the stands today at Scandals Ballpark against the Oklahoma Sooners.
In all he was 3-4 as the Gamecocks toppled Oklahoma 7-0, knocking in 5 runs and scoring 3 times.
Lee told reporters after the game, "It's rare that you actually try to hit a home run. Most of the time you fail, if you really try to hit one. But today I tried on the last one."
His manager added, "He is blessed with a natural home run swing. He gets the ball up in the air."
William Lee hit a solo-shot off Wynn McDermott in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Wynn McDermott in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Mario Yorba in the 5th and flied out in the 7th.
For the year Lee is batting .308 with 6 home runs, 12 RBIs and 9 runs scored.
