Gordon's 23-Game Hitting Streak Ends Wednesday, April 12th, 2017 For 23 straight games, Sean Gordon tried to ignore his hitting streak. "But you guys in the media wouldn't let me." The 20-year-old Oklahoma State second baseman can forget about it now -- it's over! -- courtesy of the Clemson Tigers. They held him hitless in 4 at-bats and snapped his consecutive-game hitting string at 23. The streak ended on one good note, however, Oklahoma State won the game, beating the Tigers 4-0. But Gordon acknowledged that it meant something to him. "It was special," he said, "but I think other people make a bigger deal out of it than I do, or the players do. But that's what you're supposed to do; go out and hit the ball and try and score runs. It was a cool deal. It's over now. Let's try to start it all over again." In this current campaign Gordon is hitting at a .291 clip with 2 home runs and 19 RBIs. |
