Bruce Caldwell Bashes Three over the Wall Tuesday, May 19th, 2015 Fans seated in the bleacher section at Field of the Shield were taking cover all day long as Bruce Caldwell took aim, rattling three long blasts off the seats in a display of Herculean power. Days like this are rare. After his amazing performance in Georgia's 21-0 triumph over the South Illinois Salukis, the third baseman's name will soon be added into the record books. He told reporters at the postgame press conference, "I told myself not to press on the last one. I knew I couldn't force it... that it has to be a nice easy swing." For the game he collected 3 hits in 3 at-bats, batted in 6 and scored 5 runs. Bruce Caldwell hit a solo-shot off Dave Piper in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Dave Piper in the 4th, flied out in the 6th, hit a three-run home run off Norris Keys in the 7th, walked in the 9th and walked in the 9th.
