5-Hit Game for Griffin Sunday, May 18th, 2014 Matt Griffin exploded for a barrage of base hits today at Ballpark of Celebration College. The Houston second baseman had a field day in the 21-4 triumph over the Texas Longhorns, finishing with a 5-6 day and a spot in the league record book. "My hitting philosophy is pretty simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch." Well, Griffin must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too. It was one of his best days ever with the bat. Matt Griffin singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, walked in the 7th and singled in the 8th. A look at his season totals shows Griffin with no home runs, .292 BA, .372 OBP, 10 RBIs and 22 runs scored. |
