Great Stroke: Brewer Gets 5 Hits

All game long South Carolina's Steve Brewer was rattling the walls at Scandals Ballpark and banging out base hits against the Wake Forest Demon Deacans. When the dust finally settled on the diamond, he had a 5-hit day and the Gamecocks had a 17-2 victory.
Speaking with reporters after his standout performance, the 20-year-old catcher said, "Get 5 hits, win a ballgame, it's nice. I could get used to this."
Steve Brewer hit a solo-shot off Peter Hawkins in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 7th and walked in the 8th.
This season Brewer is swinging the bat at a .300 rate with 39 hits in 130 at-bats. To date he has hit 9 home runs, scored 20 runs and driven in 28.
