5-Hit Barrage by Tanaka Monday, September 16th, 2019 Masami Tanaka exploded for a barrage of base hits today at Coney Island Coliseum. The New Orleans catcher had a field day in the 17-9 triumph over the Coney Island Cyclones, finishing with a 5-6 day and a spot in the league record book. "My hitting philosophy is pretty simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch." Well, Tanaka must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too. It was one of his best days ever with the bat. Masami Tanaka hit a two-run single in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th, hit a two-run single in the 8th and hit a two-run single in the 9th. In his stats this season, Tanaka has posted a batting average of .245 with 128 hits in 523 at-bats, 11 home runs and 78 RBIs. He has also scored 68 runs, walked 32 times and compiled a .297 OBP. |
