Hawkins Pitches San Angelo to Shutout Win
Sunday, July 22nd, 2012
Before the game Dominic Hawkins liked his chances and his instincts proved to be right. In a superb outing the Mustangs pitcher whitewashed the St. Paul Saints 6-0.
Hawkins said in the clubhouse afterward, "I just had a feeling it was going to be my day. My control was awesome. I could throw my curveball even when I was behind in the count."
The San Angelo starter held St. Paul scoreless, giving up 2 hits while registering 8 strikeouts and issuing 1 walk.
"We didn't have very many good at-bats," the Saints manager said in his postgame interview.
"When that happens, you usually lose."
To date this season Hawkins is 8-8 with 19 starts and an ERA of 2.83 with 142 strikeouts in 133.2 innings.
