Warriors Chill Aoki's Hot Streak
Friday, June 21st, 2019
It was the best of both worlds for the Winfield Warriors today at Old Bay Park as they defeated the Baltimore Blue Claws 10-5 and also ended Kiyoemon Aoki's 23-game hitting streak. The 24-year-old Baltimore right fielder failed to get a hit in 2 at-bats.
"Nothing personal against Kiyoemon, we just wanted to win the game," said the victorious Warriors skipper. "We did a great job keeping him off balance and guessing."
When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Aoki frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about my streak ending, but I would feel much better about things if we had won the game."
Aoki is currently batting .407 with 1 home run and 23 RBIs.
