Speaking at a press conference, the doctor went on to say, "In my professional opinion, it is highly doubtful that Bob will ever play baseball again. Miracles are always possible, but not in this case. The original injury was treatable, but several setbacks during the rehabilitation worsened the situation and did more damage." The distraught Dodd also spoke to reporters, saying, "I anticipated that the recovery would be slow, but I never expected this." Team officials said that the 23-year-old Dodd would take a few weeks to decide about his future. |
