Thornton Slaps 5 Hits Monday, June 12th, 2017 There are moments in a player's career that are etched into their memories forever. Lester Thornton of the Nichols Gnats had one of those moments when he went 5 for 6 at the plate today in the 6-5 win over the Westside Road Warriors at Road Warriors Field. The 23-year-old left fielder told reporters in the postgame interview, "This is a day I won't forget soon, but I'll settle to just get a hit or two every day... enough hits to hang around the league a little bit longer... like 10... 15 more years maybe." Lester Thornton singled in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, hit a two-run triple in the 6th, doubled in the 9th, hit an RBI single in the 11th and hit an RBI single in the 12th. Thornton is currently batting .270 with 3 home runs, 34 RBIs and 29 runs scored. He has 67 hits in 248 at-bats. |
