River Chiefs Wheeler Out of Action Sunday, June 11th, 2017 "I'm frustrated right now," said Chippewa closer Chris Wheeler. "I can't help this team by sitting on the bench or in the training room." Unfortunately for the River Chiefs, that's where he will be spending 7-8 months. Wheeler suffered a ruptured disc in today's game against Tempe while throwing a pitch. "Believe me," he said, "I won't be out a day longer than I have to be." Up to this point in the season, Wheeler has fashioned a 3-3 won-lost mark, made 25 relief appearances and rung up 15 saves. He has a 3.54 ERA and has allowed 29 hits over his 28 innings of work, struck out 18 batters and walked 23. |
