Suspensions Handed Out for Bench-Clearing Brawl
Sunday, September 18th, 2016
In an announcement today, the league informed Tomás Ramírez of Winfield and Kevin Gould of Nichols that they both had been suspended 8 games for fighting in a recent game.

The league president told them, "This type of aggressive behavior will not be tolerated in this league."

Ramírez wasn't happy with the length of his suspension. He thought he got the worst deal and told the league commissioner, "In any fight, whoever throws the first punch should get a more severe penalty. If I threw the first punch, I'd expect to get the most punishment. Whoever took the blow should get a lesser punishment."

His manager agreed with him and said something needs to be done about it. "Ramírez is right. The league needs to look at its policy and make sure the punishment fits the crime."

Presently Ramírez is hitting .289 with 2 home runs and 25 RBIs. He has played in 53 games and scored 19 times.

This season he has made 18 relief appearances, collecting no saves. Gould has worked 29.2 innings, yielding 27 hits and giving out 14 free passes while striking out 32. He has a 1-0 record with a 3.34 ERA.
