AHL Pick for Top Pitcher in May is Manuel Sunday, June 1st, 2014 There's something about a young rookie winning the August Herrman League Pitcher of the Month trophy that sends shock waves through the league. Such is the case with Ángel Manuel, a 21-year-old starter for the Dearborn Pioneers. In May, he topped off the month with a 5-0 mark and 0.89 ERA in 6 starts, tossed 40.1 innings, fanned 54 and held opposing teams to a .176 average. To date this season, Manuel has registered 10 starts, 5-0 won-lost mark, 1.91 ERA, 61.1 IP, 81 strikeouts and 23 walks. Opposing teams have hit .184 against him. |
