Gray Slams 5 Hits for Murfreesboro
Wednesday, September 4th, 2019
5 hits in a game has always been a magic number in baseball. Only a handful of players will do that. Get 5 hits in a game, and you get your moment of glory, your fifteen minutes of fame -- you get your name in the record book.
In the Deacons 13-9 win over Carson City, Ken Gray was red-hot today, scorching them for hit after hit at Cowboys Stadium.
"To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax. I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I must admit, I got a little tight when I realized I had a chance for a 5-hit game. On the last at-bat, I was ready to swing at anything close."
On his big day Gray delivered 5 hits in 7 at-bats.
Ken Gray grounded out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit a two-run single in the 5th, singled in the 7th, hit an RBI double in the 8th and flied out in the 9th.
For the season Gray has hit .298 with 8 home runs and 59 RBIs. He has played in 115 games and scored 81 times.
