Reliever Claims FFL Pitching Award
Thursday, August 1st, 2019
"The kid had it all working last month," a veteran teammate told reporters. "He keeps up those kind of numbers, we might have to start inviting him out with us after the games."
Armand Merlin put together a very solid month to take home the Ford Frick League's top pitching honor in July.
The 23-year-old reliever threw like a veteran. In 12 relief appearances he raked in 9 saves and 12 strikeouts in 10.1 innings as he put together his 2-0 record and 0.87 ERA.
So far this year, Merlin has chalked up 20 saves. In 40 relief appearances, he has 28 strikeouts in 41 innings with a 4.61 ERA. His season won-lost mark is 6-4.
