Alexander Cartwright League Names Matsushita Best Batter Monday, May 27th, 2019 24-year-old Motoyasu Matsushita made a few Bird-in-Hand headlines during this past week as the rookie left fielder proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and Alexander Cartwright League officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort. He cracked 12 hits in 25 at-bats to put up a .480 average. Matsushita collected 1 home run, 10 RBIs and scored 5 runs. So far this season Matsushita has 6 home runs and a .299 batting average. |
