Mustang Chill Winters's Hot Streak
Wednesday, April 10th, 2019
Matt Winters, right fielder for the Wichita Wolverines, gave it a good try, but his day in history finally came to an end, when he went hitless in 3 tries against the Carson City Mustang. Not only had they stopped his 24-game hitting streak, they had beaten Wichita 15-2, too.
Speaking with the media after the game, Winters said, "Now that the streak has ended, I admit I will breathe a bit easier the next time I step up to bat. It was tough because I put a little pressure on myself. Now that it's over, I will definitely be a little bit looser at the plate."
This season Winters is swinging the bat at a .350 rate with 14 hits in 40 at-bats. To date he has hit no home runs, scored 6 runs and driven in 5.
