Cherry and Brown Suspended, Out 4 Games
Saturday, June 23rd, 2018
Matt Cherry of the Newark Jail Birds was not happy with Fred Brown, and his frustration showed when he went after the Prussian player during yesterday's game at Cobras Ballpark. Both benches cleared as they rushed to the aid of their teammates. Order was soon restored as Cherry and Brown were pulled away from each other. They were ejected from the game.

Both players were suspended 4 games by the league office as a result of their tussle.

"It's something that happens in baseball every once in a while," Cherry commented later. "We get frustrated with another player and sometimes things go too far. We'll both take our suspensions and then come back ready to play. I got no hard feelings."

This year Cherry has collected a .348 batting average to date with 32 hits in 92 at-bats, 19 RBIs, no home runs and scored 12 times. He has played in 26 games.

This season Brown has nailed down no saves with 27 strikeouts in 26 innings. He is credited with 2 wins and 2 losses and has a 8.31 earned run average.
