Nichols's 20-Game Hitting Streak Ends
Sunday, June 17th, 2018
Hackers third baseman Roy Nichols went 0-for-4 today in Silicon Valley's 4-2 triumph over the Asheville Tourists, snapping his 20-game hitting streak.
Nichols spoke to BNN after the game and said, "I knew the hitting streak would end sooner or later. I just would have preferred later."
When he made an out in his last chance at bat, his teammates congratulated him in the dugout.
The Tourists manager shrugged off the streak. "There's nothing scientific about it, that's for sure," he said. "He had a nice little run. Let him start another one when we finish the series here."
Looking at his season stats, Nichols has compiled a .317 batting average and a .390 on-base percentage, while hitting 3 home runs and driving in 21 runs.
