Cherry Sizzles with 20-Game Batting Streak Sunday, April 15th, 2018 And the streak goes on. Matt Cherry collected another hit in the Jail Birds 14-9 win over the Hackers. The Newark second baseman was 2-for-4 in the game. After the game, Cherry commented on his 20-game hitting streak. "I'm not doing too much, just trying to get the bat on the ball and put it in play." His manager said, "Matt makes it easy for me to pencil his name in the lineup every day." Matt Cherry struck out in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, walked in the 6th and grounded out in the 7th.
