Polk Cracks 5 Hits Saturday, June 24th, 2017 "It was like I was hitting little league pitching," said Stu Polk after his 5-hit performance against the Outlaws. "No offense meant to Ottawa, but it was like I was back in little league again. I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid league park, it was Parliament Field." The Riverside first baseman had a fantastic day at the plate, knocking out 5 hits in 6 at-bats and pacing his club to a 12-2 victory. His manager elaborated after the game to the press, saying, "Stu worked the entire offseason on trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball and the hard work is paying off in base hits." "That's what I'm trying to do," Polk said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it." Stu Polk singled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Keith Wright in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 9th. During the current season Polk is batting at a .312 clip with 9 home runs and 26 RBIs. He has played in 61 games and scored 25 times. |
