Ruíz Sizzles -- Smokes Jail Birds for 5 Hits Sunday, September 25th, 2016 It was a hits blitz for Ramón Ruíz at Cobras Ballpark. The Grand Haven Whitecaps catcher tore into Newark for 5 hits in 5 at-bats to pace the Whitecaps to a 6-5 victory and wrote his name into the baseball record book. The manager for the Jail Birds bemoaned his pitching, saying, "We fell behind and weren't locating well. Once you get behind in the count, you have to make real good pitches, rather than good pitches, and we weren't able to do that today." He added, "Not to take anything away from Ruíz, but bad location was the story of the ballgame. That's why we lost the game." Ramón Ruíz singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, walked in the 9th and hit an RBI single in the 11th. This season Ruíz is batting .403 with 31 hits and 2 home runs. He has scored 19 times and has 12 runs batted in. |
