Martin Touches All the Bases, Hits for Cycle
Monday, June 6th, 2016
The big buzz in the baseball world is about Walter Martin's performance today at Confucius Field against Prussian. Martin had 4 hits en route to hitting for the cycle, leading the charge for the New York 11-5 triumph over the Marxists. A cycle requires each of the four types of hits possible -- single, double, triple and home run. A batter has to have power, speed, and a little luck to do it.

"It was one of those games you dream about," Martin told the press. "I never expected to do something like this when I showed up at the park today. All you really want to do is hit it hard and put it into play. The hits will come." And the hits did come today. The 25-year-old center fielder rounded out his superb batting display with 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 7 RBI, and 2 runs scored.

Walter Martin hit a two-run triple in the 2nd, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Dan Rucker in the 7th and hit a two-run double in the 8th.

To date Martin has chalked up a .234 average with 2 home runs, driven in 29 runs and scored 21 times.
