Saturday, November 7th, 2015
He's in the early phase of his career, but this past season José Contreras performed like a veteran on the hill for the Grand Haven Whitecaps and walked away with the Alexander Cartwright League Cy Young Award in the process.
The 24-year-old Whitecaps star fashioned a 17-9 won-loss record in 2015 with a 3.85 ERA. In 224.2 innings of work and 35 starts, Contreras struck out 188 while giving up 214 hits and 80 walks. He held opposing batters to a .246 average.
