Yates on Fire, 5-5 Against Antioch Monday, August 26th, 2019 What a day for Bobby Yates of the Joplin Fireballs! A 5-hit hitting spree! That doesn't happen every day! He ripped Antioch pitching apart at The Coal Mine and sparked the Fireballs to a 12-0 victory. He wrote his name in the record books, finishing his special day 5 for 5. "I'm usually a first ball hitter," Yates told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid that." Bobby Yates hit a two-run double in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Fabián Torres in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and hit a two-run single in the 8th. So far in 2019 Yates is batting .284 with 23 home runs, 99 RBIs and 70 runs scored. He has 126 hits in 444 at-bats and a .392 OBP. |
