El Paso's Hawkins Down with Injury
Saturday, August 3rd, 2019
Dealing with injuries is part of the game, and now Peter Hawkins of the Diablos knows this firsthand. He was injured against the Fort Worth Cats while throwing a pitch. Because of bone chips in his elbow, the El Paso starting pitcher is expected to miss 4 months. Hawkins was a little upset, but understands it comes with the territory. "Baseball can be a contact sport. You try to be careful, but no matter how careful you are, injuries happen."
This year Hawkins has recorded a 3-13 mark. In 24 starts he has fanned 122 batters in 124.1 innings with a 7.67 ERA.
