De La Garza and Núñez Suspended 2 Games Monday, May 20th, 2019 One player challenged the other with some angry words at the Unionists-Sabercats game at Bulldog Stadium yesterday. There was some pushing and shoving -- then the dugouts emptied. There was a lot of scuffling, but no punches thrown. When order was finally restored and the dust settled, the umpires ejected Winston's Tony De La Garza and Mdewanketon's Gonzalo Núñez. Now both antagonists will get some time off, courtesy of the league commissioner. They were suspended 2 games for inappropriate and aggressive behavior. Looking at his stats this year, De La Garza has compiled a .230 batting average, while hitting 8 home runs and driving in 32 runs. He has played in 43 games and scored 25 runs. This season Núñez has a 0-4 record with a 9.80 ERA in 9 starts. |
