Barrage of Hits Gets Mitchell BCL Award Monday, May 6th, 2019 25-year-old Joe Mitchell made a few Joplin headlines during this past week as the rookie shortstop proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and Blake Camden League officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort. He cracked 18 hits in 30 at-bats to put up a .600 average. Mitchell collected 2 home runs, 11 RBIs and scored 9 runs. This year Mitchell is batting .367 with 40 hits, 4 home runs, 15 RBIs, 14 walks, .435 OBP and has scored 23 runs. |
