Denton Homers 3 Times Against South Bay
Friday, April 12th, 2019
Today was a special one for Nick Denton of the Winston Unionists as he slammed three home runs in the 13-5 win over the South Bay Arsenal.
"Lately, I been uppercutting the ball too much. I would hit it hard, but they just went sky high and stayed in the ballpark," he said to sportswriters after the game. "No big long outs for me in this game. I leveled out my swing and connected on the sweet spot three times. I knew they were gone the minute I hit 'em."
The Winston first baseman had quite a game at Bulldog Stadium as he collected 3 hits in 3 at-bats, drove in 6, and scored 3 runs.
Nick Denton walked in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off Dan Johnston in the 7th.
This year Denton has hit 4 home runs and posted a .333 batting average.
