Super Swinger -- Ávila Slams 5 Hits
Sunday, April 7th, 2019
Players get multihit games all the time. But a 5-hit game comes around only once in a blue moon. It happened at Phantoms Field when Carlos Ávila of Coronado scattered 5 hits all over the ballpark against the South Bay Arsenal.
He walloped 5 hits in 5 at-bats in his career-day performance to help the Phantoms get by the Arsenal 6-5.
In a talkative and jovial mood after the game, the center fielder of the Phantoms said, "Whoa, my swing was really, really there today. I made some good, sweet-spot contact and when that happens... good things happen... like 5-5. I could get used to a lot of days like this one."
Carlos Ávila doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
Ávila is batting .409 this season in 6 games with 1 home run, 6 RBIs and 1 run scored. He has 9 hits in 22 at-bats.
