Phantoms Reliever Cops Pitching Award Friday, June 1st, 2018 Jorge Román was ecstatic to win May's Kade Stenson League Pitcher of the Month honors today. The 24-year-old Coronado pitcher thanked fans, his coaches and the voters for the honor -- despite the fact that he deserved much of the credit himself. Román's star burned bright last month as he made 13 relief appearances, notching 8 saves and 10 strikeouts in 13.1 innings. He held opposing hitters to a .159 average to put up his 2-0 mark and 0.68 ERA. To date Jorge Román has made 25 relief appearances and nailed down 11 saves. In 28 innings he has fanned 20 batters and walked 15. His record is 3-2 with a 2.25 ERA and the opposition is batting .220 against him. |
