Phantoms End O'Higgins's Streak
Friday, September 29th, 2017
The Toledo Raptors won the game 2-1 over the Coronado Phantoms. At the same time the Phantoms mound corps did what no other team could do. They stopped the 31-game hitting streak of Raptors second baseman Reese O'Higgins. But that was still not enough to win the game.
"Our pitchers might have focused a bit too much on stopping O'Higgins," the Coronado manager commented afterward. "He had a nice hitting streak going, but the Raptors have other hitters, and they did their job today."
This season O'Higgins is hitting .317 with 198 hits, 2 home runs, 64 RBIs, scored 70 runs and played in 153 games.
