Davis Pops 3 Out of the Park Against Freeze
Thursday, July 27th, 2017
Jake Davis of the Mustangs won the battle against Minneapolis pitching, but lost the war. He hit three out of the park at Cobb Field, got his name in the league record book, but Billings came up short in the win column, losing to the Freeze 13-12. The Billings left fielder was red-hot, the ball just exploded off his bat all day long.

"I don't try to hit homers," he said. "I try to go out there and have good at-bats. If I put a good swing on the ball, then it is going to go out of the park. I didn't try to hit the first one or the second one or the third one. I just try to have good at-bats."

For the game he went 3 for 5 with 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored.

Where does he rank this day in his career? "It's up there," Davis said. "I'll put it up there in the upper echelon, despite the loss."

Jake Davis grounded out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Paul Durden in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Tim O'Herlihy in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Stanley Richard in the 6th, struck out in the 8th and walked in the 9th.

This year Davis has socked 11 hits in 42 at-bats for a .262 average with 5 home runs. He is getting on base at a .407 pace and his totals also include 11 RBIs and 12 runs scored.
