El Paso's Kountouroudas Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits Thursday, July 20th, 2017 On top of the El Paso hit parade today was Zale Kountouroudas. He went to the plate 5 times and marched away with 5 hits, sparking the Diablos to a 14-5 victory over the Coronado Phantoms. The sweet swinging shortstop told reporters, "Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere. When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats." The skipper of the Phantoms wailed to the press, "Too much plate. Not the way we planned it. Any hitter in the league will rip you when you do that." Zale Kountouroudas doubled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off José Lara in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and walked in the 8th. This season in 48 games, Kountouroudas has hit at a .376 clip with 32 hits, 3 home runs, 20 RBIs and 18 runs scored. |
