Springfield-Reno Brawl, Martínez and Sakamoto Suspended
Sunday, May 28th, 2017
At a recent Reformers-Raiders contest at Wittenburg Field, Héctor Martínez of Springfield took exception to what Tadashi Sakamoto of Reno said to him and tackled him. This led to an old-fashioned bench-clearing free-for-all between the two clubs. After the umpires restored order, they ejected both players.
Today the league commissioner's office took action and suspended each player for 7 games, citing them for "inappropriate and aggressive conduct."
So far this year, Martínez is batting .269 with 1 home run and 19 RBIs.
So far this year Sakamoto has nailed down no saves. His won-lost record is 2-2 with a 5.57 ERA.
