Martínez Strokes 5 Hits Tuesday, September 13th, 2016 It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-6 day. It might come around only once in a career -- a lot of players never have one -- but Jorge Martínez got one today. He scattered hits all over Hell Stadium to pace El Paso to a 6-5 victory over Birmingham. The Birmingham skipper told reporters in the press room, "Tip your hat to him. He hit some good pitches. According to the scouting report, Martínez hit several that he is not supposed to hit." Jorge Martínez singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Charlie Arnold in the 7th, doubled in the 9th and hit a solo-shot off Mark Scott in the 11th. This season Martínez is batting .267 with 8 RBIs, 13 runs scored and 4 home runs. |
