Matthews Holds Stingrays Scoreless Thursday, October 1st, 2015 Chandler Matthews of Bristol City easily handled the St. John Stingrays, stopping them on 3 hits and chucking a complete-game 1-0 shutout. "He really did a job on us," said the St. John manager. "He had good command of his pitches. He changed speeds well and pretty much confused us. We never could zero in on him, but he certainly zeroed in on us." Matthews said, "Everything was working for me. Throwing my breaking stuff over the plate was big." He finished the game with 8 strikeouts and 2 walks in a solid outing. This season Matthews has made 68 relief appearances, pitched 106.1 innings and struck out 110 with a record of 4 wins and 4 losses. He has compiled a 2.71 ERA and saved 3 games. |
