Byford Slams 5 Hits for Bristol City
Tuesday, April 15th, 2014
5 times is a charm -- at least in the world of baseball. When a player gets 5 or more hits in a game, he is honored in the record book and the latest honoree is John Byford of the Bristol City Smugglers. He tore up the Coronado Phantoms to the tune of 5 hits in 6 at-bats in the Bristol City 12-9 win today at Phantoms Field.

"Byford was a tough out today," the Coronado manager said to the press in the postgame interview. "He hit some very good pitches with that quick bat of his. Not an easy out, that's for sure."

John Byford hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Elijah Fowler in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th, hit a two-run double in the 9th and hit a three-run triple in the 10th.

Thus far this year Byford has hit .565 with 2 home runs and 12 RBIs.
