King to Donate Kidney to Ailing Sister
Wednesday, December 18th, 2019
Eureka reliever Edmond King has decided to retire from baseball in order to donate a kidney to his sister. Doctors say King's sister, who has advanced kidney disease, probably won't survive without a new organ. "As much as I love the game of baseball, I love my sister more," said King. "I'm just doing what I would hope someone would do for me if I needed it."
Eduardo Otero had nothing but praise for his teammate. "Edmond is such an incredible guy. To walk away from all of this to help someone he cares about just shows how much class he has." His manager, Ismael De La Garza, was equally impressed with King's generosity. "It takes a lot of character to make a sacrifice like that. We wish him and his sister all the best and we'll definitely be praying for their speedy recovery."
