Younger Socks it to Berserkers, Cracks 5 Hits Saturday, August 31st, 2019 It doesn't happen very often, but it happened for Wayne Younger -- a 5-hit day. He went on a rampage at The Frozen Tundra and paced the Federals to a 13-3 win over the Minnesota Berserkers. After his dynamite batting performance the Washington catcher told the press, "I just tried to get myself in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control." His philosophy paid some great dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 5 tries and put his name in the record book. Wayne Younger singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Ken Hubert in the 5th, hit a two-run single in the 7th and singled in the 8th. In 36 games this season Younger is batting .213 with 16 hits and 3 home runs. He has scored 6 runs and driven in 12. |
