5-Hit Game for Smith Thursday, August 1st, 2019 It was a hits blitz for Dan Smith at Metroplex Park. The Manhatten Beach Patriots first baseman tore into Dallas for 5 hits in 7 at-bats to pace the Patriots to a 4-3 victory and wrote his name into the baseball record book. The manager for the Texans bemoaned his pitching, saying, "We fell behind and weren't locating well. Once you get behind in the count, you have to make real good pitches, rather than good pitches, and we weren't able to do that today." He added, "Not to take anything away from Smith, but bad location was the story of the ballgame. That's why we lost the game." Dan Smith singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, flied out in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 10th and struck out in the 12th. This year Smith is batting .330 with 10 home runs. |
