Bad News for South Carolina, Gibbons Injured

Earlier today, South Carolina reliever Cecil Gibbons had to leave the game against Boston because of an injury. Team officials are reporting that he has a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament and will miss 10 months of play. Gibbons was hurt throwing a pitch and was unable to continue playing. He will be evaluated this afternoon by team physicians.
Gibbons's record up to now is 3-and-5 with no saves and a 5.36 ERA. He has given up 105 hits in 82.1 innings with 49 strikeouts.
